A sweet song

Hearts Content
By: Brandi Carlile

Maybe you thought
I hung the moon
Maybe you thought
We were johnny and june
Maybe we thought
It was just us two
Maybe we spoke too soon

We never lie
And we don’t tell tales
We bite our tongues
And our fingernails
We fall in love
And we don’t fall out
Maybe we speak too soon

Here’s you and me
And in between
We draw a line
But we can’t see
Where it’s been
We scratch our heads
And race against
The heart’s content

Oho oho oho oh yeah

Maybe we hurt
Who we love the most
Maybe it’s all we can stand
Maybe we walk through the world as ghosts
Break my own heart before you can

Here’s you and me
And in between
We draw a line
But we can’t see
Where it’s been
We scratch our heads
And race against
The heart’s content

Ohoho yeah

Maybe we know how the story ends
Maybe it’s not even about us
We both retreat to opposing sands
And the love lives on without us

One thing I know for sure is
Love will find a way
Love will find a way

Here’s you and me
And in between
We draw a line
But we can’t see
Where it’s been
We scratch our heads
And race against
The heart’s content

Oho oho oho
You and me
Oho oho oho
You and me
Oho oho oho
You and me
Oho oho oho oh yeah

〰So if your heart wrings dry, my love
      I will fill your cup.
And if your load gets heavy, girl
      I will lift you up.
      Troubles they may
      come and go.
      But good times
      be the gold.
So if the road gets rocky, girl
      Just steady as we go〰

Not An Addict by K’s Choice

These lyrics are dead on. So grateful to be clean today. Great song…

Breathe it in and breathe it out
And pass it on, it’s almost out
We’re so creative, so much more
We’re high above but on the floor

It’s not a habit, it’s cool, I feel alive
If you don’t have it you’re on the other side

The deeper you stick it in your vein
The deeper the thoughts, there’s no more pain
I’m in heaven, I’m a god
I’m everywhere, I feel so hot

It’s not a habit, it’s cool, I feel alive
If you don’t have it you’re on the other side
I’m not an addict (maybe that’s a lie)

It’s over now, I’m cold, alone
I’m just a person on my own
Nothing means a thing to me
(Nothing means a thing to me)

It’s not a habit, it’s cool, I feel alive
If you don’t have it you’re on the other side
I’m not an addict (maybe that’s a lie)

Free me, leave me
Watch me as I’m going down
Free me, see me
Look at me, I’m falling and I’m falling.

It is not a habit, it is cool I feel alive I feel…
It is not a habit, it is cool I feel alive

It’s not a habit, it’s cool, I feel alive
If you don’t have it you’re on the other side
I’m not an addict (maybe that’s a lie)
I’m not an addict..

Thrash Unreal by Against Me!

https://www.doubletwist.com/music/Against%20Me%21/Thrash%20Unreal

Although the music is loud and catchy, it’s the lyrics that make it stand out; every verse speaking of truth and placed like a story. Singer Laura Jane Grace, Yes! He is now a She!, has one of the strongest raspy thrash punk new wave industrial voices in the world of music, writes like a poet, and is obviously fearless.

Enjoy!

Still Life by The Horrors

I first heard this song a few years ago on Boston late radio station WFNX and I fell in love with it instantly. I watched some cheesy indie movie lately and there was a scene which played this song from beginning to end which reminded me about the band.

Enjoy!

Half Moon by the band Blind Pilot

https://www.doubletwist.com/music/Blind%20Pilot/Half%20Moon

I love when a band that isn’t mainstream or TOP 40 comes out with a majestic dream – like sound for a song in which an unusual but original voice can carry the weight of the songs melody and paves the way for its rhythm with lyrics only a true song writer can sing.
